If You Live Long Enough
It’s because I chatter that I do nothing. Or perhaps it is that I chatter because I do nothing. – Fyodor Dostoevsky, Crime and Punishment
So, ran across a piece regarding "virtual energy plants." This is something, I've advocated, well, longer than I or anyone would care to admit. Basically, it's using distributed generation systems like solar rooftops to at times network together and offer aggregated energy generation on demand. It requires conceiving of distributed networked order.
Distributed networked order is order from the bottom-up as opposed to the top-down. This is one of the most radical ideas derived from the biological and physical sciences in the last century and half. It has had less than zero political impact. Funnily enough, politics was long ahead of the game with the idea of democracy which is distributed order, opposed to the long, traditional centralized hierarchical order of much of recorded human history.
Democracy was forgotten in America with industrial technology's destruction of agrarian democratic order. Today, we rush headlong in the name of faux-progress and maybe just as faux-profit to install tyrannical centralized control with the next generation of compute marketed as AI. Did you see Barnie the Big Blue Socialist Dinosaur and Tyrannous Trump agree on DC taking part ownership of AI as some sort of political solution?
It's interesting how little fuss is being made of America at 250. I suppose remembrance of a generation of political innovation in a contemporary political environment totally bereft of thought is inconvenient.
