Nowhere to run, Nowhere to hide

"Woe unto you hypocrites! You travel sea and land to make one convert, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves."
The bankruptcy of the American political class happened slowly, then all at once. Today, one of our always far too many war fools, faux-christian warriors, a fanatic Princeton grad, stated, the US sought to “permanently deny Iran nuclear weapons forever”
Sixty years ago, a man, who knew about atomic weapons and the new era humanity now found itself burdened with such knowledge, J. Robert Oppenheimer, stated,
"In man's history the sciences make changes which cannot be wished away and cannot be undone. I give two examples, very different ones."
"There's much talk, has been for 15 years, about getting rid of atomic weapons. I, like all people, have a deep sympathy with that talk, but we mustn't fool ourselves. The world is not going to be the same no matter what we do with atomic bombs because the knowledge of how to make them cannot be exorcised. It is there and all our arrangements for living in a new age must bear in mind its omnipresent, virtual presence and the fact that one cannot change that."
Oppenheimer concludes,
We live in a time which has few historical parallels. There are practical problems. Problems of the restructuring of human institutions, of their obsolescence and inadequacy, and problems of the mind and spirit, which if not more difficult than ever before are different and are indeed plenty difficult.
