Technology as Art @ the MoMA

New York, New York big city of dreams
Everything in New York ain't always what it seems
You might be fooled if you come from out town
But I'm down by law, I know my way around
Too much, too many people, too much

Years ago, technology thinker Marshall McLuhan wrote old technology becomes art. So, it wasn't surprising, walking into one of the first exhibits at the MoMA, to see old technology on display.

Bic Cristal Ballpoint pen - 1950

The display states it is the best selling pen of all time. I can't say how many I used over the years, let's use vulgar math and say a lot. In recent years, if I have a pen in my hand once a year, that's a lot.

Transparent Reel to Reel recorder
TCV 250 Video Display Terminal - 1966

Now, we carry them in our pocket.

The piece de resistance:

Bell Helicopter - 1945

And of course, Andy baby, the guy who understood this all instinctively.

I drew 550 shoes today, it almost made me feint
